Scientific research is one of the key missions defined by the Faculty of Environmental and Food Engineering. To become a leading faculty in technology activities and ready for international integration, the Faculty has paid attention to the scientific research activities of lecturers and students.

Since 2016, many research projects have been implemented with the support of many funds such as the National Fund for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED, Vietnam), the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, and Nguyen Tat Thanh University. In addition, many research seminars organized by the Faculty of Environmental and Food Engineering have gradually met the quality requirements and contributed to the development of science and technology at Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

Lecturers and researchers have implemented 24 projects since 2016, actively collaborating with other scientists to publish articles in prestigious international scientific journals. In 2020, the Faculty has 13 projects implemented with the sponsorship of Nguyen Tat Thanh University. The research results are applied to the school’s activities, especially teaching activities, which have created positive changes. Faculty staff, especially young lecturers, have actively participated in scientific research activities. Under the guidance of lecturers, students have carried out more than 250 scientific research projects since 2016. Students with scientific research activities are continuously promoted and developed in both quantity and quality. In 2020, more than 100 scientific research student projects will be conducted. The mission of scientific research has closely followed the needs of society in the fields of agriculture, industry, environment, and especially food products.

With a young faculty, scientific research activities have encountered many difficulties. However, lecturers and researchers of the Faculty have published 88 articles in prestigious national and international journals, including 49 published on ISI system, 06 published on Scopus. In particular, the number of published works increased sharply in 2018 and 2019, including 18 articles on ISI and 70 articles on Scopus. The number of publications on the ISI and Scopus systems has increased significantly with 52 articles in 2019.

In the next five years, the Faculty will focus on developing cooperation between research groups in our Faculty and in Nguyen Tat Thanh University to make the best use of human and facilities; strengthen and expand relationships with businesses and alumni; seek opportunities from funds to support research activities, and develop strategies to promote research findings to the public.
